Further Thoughts on the Wheel

So after writing about Wheel of Fortune the other day I was thinking about how long that show has been running, seemingly forever. I know I am going to date myself by talking about this, you know like calling CD's "Albums" and DVD's "Videos"...but anyway, does anyone else remember when the contestants SHOPPED on the show? For those that don't remember, long ago when a contestant won a round they went "shopping." Their face would appear in a little window as the camara panned over the available items and the person would have to spend all their money. It was set up so you always had a little money left and you HAD to spend it, so everyone would end up buying some horrible Object D' Art..the one I remember the most distinctly was the dalmation umbrella holder. Everybody ended up with that stupid thing.

OMFG...

YOU ROCK! YES I remember.

The little oval window on the top left that would seeimingly float around the screen like The Good Witch in The Wizard of Oz.

I'll take the faux laminated cherry Hutch Please!

(ooooo What a bargain only $400!)

This is too painful with the passing of Anne Bancroft.

I know somebody who knows somebody who was on the Wheel and actually ponied up the dollars for the dalmation umbrella holder. He later sold it at (gasp!) a garage sale. Oh to be the early bird bargain hunter who lucked into that little piece of heaven....

Patrick, I'd totally forgotten about the floating window. Too choice. Yay!

What a horrible, horrible game show that was... remember when it went prime-time and Pat Sajak thought he was Lord and Master of the world?

And then it bombed, and his late-night show bombed, haha.

What's far worse is watching them buy the prizes with their winnings while listening to your parents talk about how they can get a better price on the prize at Wal-Mart, K&B, or Ben Franklin.

OMG you said Ben Franklin.

I haven't thought of that store in years and years...

There was one in Bremen, Ind.

It was hot.
